How Claude connects to U301 through MCP
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets Claude securely use other software, reading information and taking actions with permissions the organisation controls. Think of it as a universal adapter between Claude and the tool. Where U301 offers an MCP server, Claude can use it. Otherwise, a secure managed connector can link Claude to the U301 API directly.
Once connected, Claude can typically fetch lists of resources, look up individual records, update fields, apply tags and carry out bulk operations across many resources at once. A team member might simply ask for all resources matching a condition to be tagged, and Claude carries out the request through the API.
Access is limited to what your organisation grants. We set up the API key with least-privilege permissions, so Claude can only reach the actions it needs.
